A UCPD officer shot and killed a Cal student who brandished a gun at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business Tuesday afternoon in the first campus shooting in decades, police said.

Witnesses reported that police entered a computer lab at the business school at 2:19 p.m. and shot an unidentified man who was carrying a gun. The suspect was wounded and was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland.

UC Police officials said Wednesday morning that the man had died from the injury. No one else was hurt in the incident.

A three year-old boy was shot and killed in East Oakland Monday afternoon, an innocent victim of a drive-by shooting that wounded two other men at International Blvd. and 64th Street, police said.

The infant was struck by the gunfire at 1:15 p.m., according to Oakland Police spokesperson Officer Holly Joshi. He was rushed to Children’s Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival, authorities said.

UPDATE 2005 PDT: The Powell Street Station has reopened to passengers.

UPDATE 1934 PDT: 16th Street/ Mission and Civic Center stations have fully reopened to passengers.

UPDATE 1914 PDT: BART is beginning to shut down the Powell Street Station after protesters arrive at the transit stop. The Civic Center Station has reopened to allow passengers to off-board trains. Passengers may disembark trains at Powell, but BART is not allowing passengers to enter the station.

UPDATE 1835 PDT: BART has just shut down the 16th Street/ Mission Station after demonstrators moved their protest there.

(7/4) — 0752 PDT UPDATE — SAN FRANCISCO – A knife-wielding man was shot and killed by a BART police officer at the Civic Center Station Sunday night forcing the complete closure of the transit facility, according to the agency and passengers who said they heard the gunshots.

Passengers told the Beat that they heard gunfire coming from the BART platform level of the station followed by a large police response.

Five people were wounded by a hail of gunfire San Francisco Saturday evening, just blocks away from the city’s annual Gay Pride celebration, police said.

The shooting occurred at 6:15 p.m. on the 1000 block of Market Street near Jones and Seventh Streets when an unidentified person opened fire on a group of people standing on the street corner.

The man arrested for critically beating San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow is also a person of interest in a gang-related Nevada shooting.

Giovanni Ramirez, 31, is being sought as a suspect in a Henderson, Nev. shooting that left one person wounded at a home in January, Las Vegas television station KLAS-TV reported.

(5/11) — UPDATE 10:53 PDT — SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Three people were struck and killed by gunfire inside a San Jose State University parking garage Tuesday evening in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Campus police said the shooting happened after 8:30 p.m. on the fifth floor of a multi-level parking garage at South Tenth and San Fernando Streets near Downtown San Jose.

Fairfield Police said three people were killed and one person was wounded after a shooting inside a home near Vintage Valley Drive and Mangels Blvd. Saturday afternoon.

Police said they received a 911 call reporting the incident after 12 p.m. A police spokesperson told reporters that the shooter is among the deceased victims.

Oakland Police investigated at least two separate shootings in the city Friday evening, including the slaying of a man found shot multiple times.

Authorities reported a fatal shooting on the 1700 block of Seventh Avenue at 6 p.m. Friday where a man was found suffering from several gunshot wounds in a residential neighborhood east of Lake Merritt.

Oakland Police revised the description of a getaway car used by four men who were involved in the shooting of six people at a Jack London Square restaurant and nightclub early Monday morning.

The gunfire claimed the lives of William Jenkins, 27, of Oakland and Adam Williams, 22, of San Leandro.

Police now believe that the men fled from Sweet Jimmie’s nightclub at 311 Broadway Street in a newer model, four-door White Toyota Camry after firing an assault rifle at a crowd of patrons who had assembled at the popular after hours eatery.
