San Francisco Police asked for the public’s help to identify the man who purposely ran down a former U.S. Marine and CalFire firefighter during a Thanksgiving morning fight in the city’s Richmond District.

Police said the suspect fought with the victim inside a Jack in the Box restaurant at the corner of Geary Blvd. and 11th Ave. in the city’s Richmond District at 2:45 a.m. but were separated by other patrons.

BART Police released platform surveillance video partially showing the fatal July 3 officer-involved shooting of a 45 year-old transient at the Civic Center Station in San Francisco.

Charles Hill was shot and killed after a confrontation with two transit police officers on the station platform when he allegedly brandished a knife. Authorities displayed photographs of knives they said were found in Hill’s possession.

San Rafael Police released surveillance video of an armed robbery in hopes of catching the toothpick-chewing suspect who held up a Subway Sandwich shop inside the Marin Square Shopping Center at 4:45 p.m. Friday afternoon .

According to investigators, the man entered the shop and placed an order for two foot-long sandwiches.

The San Francisco Giants became the first professional sports franchise in the country to release a video addressing bullying and violence against gay and lesbian youth Wednesday.

The team announced two weeks ago that they would record and release their own rendition of the “It Gets Better” nationwide anti-bullying initiative that was launched in response to several suicides of GLBTQ youth who were discriminated against because of their sexual orientation.

LOS ANGELES — The University of California Los Angeles undergraduate who caused a nationwide stir after posting a racially charged rant against Asians on YouTube.com apologized for her comments Friday and withdrew her admission from the school.

Alexandra Wallace, a resident of Fair Oaks, Calif., a suburb in Sacramento County said she had received death threats from angry members of the public who viewed her rant against Asians.

The hoodie showdown went down on NBC’s Saturday Night Live when “The Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg and SNL star Andy Samberg were surprised on-stage by the man they portray in film and television: the founder and CEO of Palo Alto-based Facebook Mark Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg stood beside the two — in the flesh — in an uncanny appearance that was in the words of Samberg, “awkward.”

Two recent police shootings in San Francisco — one of them caught on camera by a bystander — have renewed calls by San Francisco Police Chief George Gascon to outfit the city’s patrol officers with Tasers.

Gascon told reporters during a Wednesday press conference following the officer-involved shooting of a man in a wheelchair at 10th and Folsom Sts. that the altercation would likely not have escalated if responding officers had an option to use the electric stun guns to detain the man.

Kittens purring and puppies barking can be grouped into the sounds of the holiday season at San Francisco’s Macy’s store. The annual display of pets up for adoption from the city’s SPCA is stopping brisk-walking holiday shoppers and drawing them to window displays featuring the animals who are in need of a home along Stockton and O’Farrell Streets.

This season’s display is the 24th annual campaign at the San Francisco Macy’s store to raise money for the SPCA and find homes for dogs and cats every year.

OAKLAND — A Denny’s restaurant near the Oakland Airport was torn apart during a violent Halloween evening fight that was videotaped and uploaded onto YouTube afterwards.

The video shows two groups of costumed women hurling everything — from dining room chairs, plates, cups to salt and pepper shakers — at each other inside the Hegenberger Avenue location.

SAN FRANCISCO — Celebrations broke out citywide in San Francisco and many other Bay Area cities Saturday night after the Giants clinched the National League pennant, sending the team to a World Series match-up against the Texas Rangers beginning at AT&T Park this Wednesday.

In San Francisco’s Mission District, drivers of cars and MUNI buses honked horns and fans streamed out of bars and lounges to parade on street corners after Giants closer Brian Wilson struck out Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard to finish a 3-2 win.
