Police search after chase ends in Nob Hill
A large police presence in San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighborhood Sunday evening revolved around a massive search for at least one suspect who led authorities on a pursuit through the city, witnesses told the Beat.
San Francisco Police and California Highway Patrol officers were searching an area near the iconic Fairmont Hotel near Clay and Mason Streets, area residents told the Beat.
Residents said there were at least one dozen police vehicles in the area and some were blocking some of the narrow one-way streets in the neighborhood — home to some of the most expensive residential addresses in San Francisco. There are reports that service on MUNI’s 1-California trolley bus line was affected by the street closures.
The origin and reason for the pursuit were unknown as of press time.

like Bullitt?!?!?
I live on Clay and Mason, and watched this all happen out of my bay Window. I’m waiting for the official press release to find out what the heck was going on…
I counted at least 18 cops at one point. There was also a man with a big camera with a light and a lanyard around his neck (maybe shooting for COPS?). Most cops were just standing around. I do not remember any guns ever being pulled. The three people in the car who got arrested/detained put up zero fight (two males, one female, and one puppy pitbull who kept wandering off).
I was on the #1 electric bus trolley (westwards) which was stopped directly in front of all this ruckus. I wish someone could explain what happened. I wasn’t paying that much attention (sirens are common) until I looked up and saw a police officer with gun drawn pointing at someone on the ground. I never did see who they were arresting. A couple officers ran past the bus, apparently in pursuit of someone, but I never saw who they were chasing. The bus driver told everyone to sit down. Driver wouldn’t let us out of the bus because he said the police said there was a man with a gun on the run. I too saw the dog (not sure it was a puppy, but it sure looked confused and two officers were able to eventually catch it by the collar. More flashing police lights than I have seen in a long time, so it must have been someone they really wanted to catch. After a few minutes, the passengers were let off the bus and I and another passenger jogged the rest of the way to the BART station to get out of there. Don’t know if this is usual San Francisco Sunday night entertainment, but the passenger I was jogging with hadn’t seen anything like it before either.
