The California Beat is a general interest website providing news, information and current events coverage for the Metropolitan San Francisco Bay Area.

As an independent and innovative organization consisting of individual contributors, we are committed to serving the community with quality local journalism in the digital era. We provide thoughtful analysis, insight and perspective of Bay Area events to a worldwide readership.

The website was established in 2008 as a multimedia hub for the Bay Area. It has evolved into a full service and multi-platform information center providing unique content free of charge to our readers. Today, the California Beat’s online platforms reach tens of thousands of daily readers who find value in the provocative storytelling that we provide on our website, social media channels and through syndication services.

We proudly serve a diverse, connected and intellectual audience in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our readers and social media followers include local elected officials, leaders of prominent Bay Area institutions and companies, and engaged citizens who represent the independent spirit of Northern California.
