An estimated crowd of 200 people chanted, marched and vociferously objected to the pending release of former BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle in Oakland Sunday afternoon.

The crowd gathered at Fruitvale BART Station for a 3 p.m. rally and then marched to 14th and Broadway Sts. in Downtown Oakland — the site of many previous gatherings — for a second protest.

A 3 p.m. protest is being held at Fruitvale BART Station in East Oakland to demonstrate against the release of former BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle on Monday. Mehserle, 29, shot and killed unarmed train passenger Oscar Grant on January 1, 2009 at the transit station.

A march will follow the protest to 14th and Broadway Streets in Downtown Oakland where a 5 p.m. rally will take place.

The new, secondary Apple campus will feature curved glass all the way around its ring-shaped frame.

On Tuesday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs presented mockups to the Cupertino City Council for what he is calling Infinite Loop 2, a secondary Apple campus in Cupertino, Calif.

The 100-acre parcel of land, which was purchased from Hewlett-Packard, will be razed to make way for a futuristic, ring-shaped building with the capacity to hold between 12,000 and 13,000 employees.

Amgen

American cyclists rolled in Friday to take the top three spots in Stage 6 of the Amgen Tour of California.

Stage 6, the Individual Time Trial of the Amgen Tour of California came to a finish in the Santa Ynez Valley town of Solveng. Among the top three competitors were Americans Dave Zabriskie, Levi Leipheimer, and Tejay Van Garderen.

California State Prison Sacramento was built in 1986 as a companion facility adjacent to Folsom State Prison. Originally called “New Folsom,” CSP Sacramento houses 3,000 inmates serving long-terms for varying offenses.

The facility is considered a maximum security housing complex with several cell blocks covering 1,200 acres near California’s Folsom Lake.
