Oakland Police investigated at least two separate shootings in the city Friday evening, including the slaying of a man found shot multiple times.

Authorities reported a fatal shooting on the 1700 block of Seventh Avenue at 6 p.m. Friday where a man was found suffering from several gunshot wounds in a residential neighborhood east of Lake Merritt.

Oakland Police warned residents near Lake Merritt after a woman was robbed and sexually assaulted near her Lakeshore Avenue home this week.

The woman was returning to her residence when an African American male approached the unidentified victim Tuesday evening, robbed her, and then sexually assaulted her, according to police. The man, in his twenties and 5 foot 8 inches tall, fled the area after committing the crime.

OAKLAND — An armed man being chased by police led officers into a BART subway tunnel Wednesday afternoon causing the transit agency to shut off power to trains at the Lake Merritt station.

The foot chase by BART and Oakland Police led to delays of up to 30 minutes for riders traveling in the East Bay because of the power shutdown at approximately 12:15 p.m., the agency reported.
