A UCPD officer shot and killed a Cal student who brandished a gun at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business Tuesday afternoon in the first campus shooting in decades, police said.
Witnesses reported that police entered a computer lab at the business school at 2:19 p.m. and shot an unidentified man who was carrying a gun. The suspect was wounded and was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland.
UC Police officials said Wednesday morning that the man had died from the injury. No one else was hurt in the incident.

BART Police released platform surveillance video partially showing the fatal July 3 officer-involved shooting of a 45 year-old transient at the Civic Center Station in San Francisco.
Charles Hill was shot and killed after a confrontation with two transit police officers on the station platform when he allegedly brandished a knife. Authorities displayed photographs of knives they said were found in Hill’s possession.

A San Francisco Police Officer fatally shot and killed a suspected bank robber Tuesday afternoon near Buena Vista Park, a department spokesman reported.
The officer attempted to apprehend the suspect at 5:30 p.m. near the park but for some reason opened fire on the man. The department did not immediately elaborate on why the officer opened fire.

Two people were shot and killed by Oakland Police officers during a joint operation between the department and federal drug agents in East Oakland Wednesday night, authorities said.
A third man who was involved in the incident was arrested nearby, police said, after officers fired on two armed men at around 10:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of Curran Avenue near 35th Avenue and Coolidge Street in Oakland’s Fruitvale District.

Police identified the man shot to death by officers in a quiet Rockridge District neighborhood Saturday morning as Matthew Cicelski, 39, of Oakland.
Police said Cicelski was “prancing” and “patrolling” in front of his former girlfriend’s home on the 5500 block of Taft Avenue at 9:30 a.m. Saturday armed with a replica assault rifle and a knife.

Oakland Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened in the city’s Rockridge District Saturday morning.
Police said officers responded to a disturbance on the 5500 block of Taft Avenue at 9:30 a.m. for a report of a man acting strangely and pacing up and down the street in front of his former girlfriend’s home.

A passenger in a car that Oakland Police chased through city streets and Interstate 880 was shot and killed by an officer Wednesday afternoon after the man armed himself with two guns and refused to cooperate with authorities, police said.
The man, identified by police Thursday as Martin Flenaugh, 19, was riding in a red Infiniti sedan that was being sought by officers in connection with a shots fired call on the 7600 block of Lockwood Street at 4:00 p.m.

An Oakland schools police officer fatally shot a man who authorities said attacked another officer with a screwdriver near Joaquin Miller Park in the Oakland Hills Saturday night.
Two officers were providing security for Skyline High School’s Winter Ball event when they approached a suspicious car parked alongside Crane Way near the Joaquin Miller Community Center at 9:15 p.m., police said.

Two recent police shootings in San Francisco — one of them caught on camera by a bystander — have renewed calls by San Francisco Police Chief George Gascon to outfit the city’s patrol officers with Tasers.
Gascon told reporters during a Wednesday press conference following the officer-involved shooting of a man in a wheelchair at 10th and Folsom Sts. that the altercation would likely not have escalated if responding officers had an option to use the electric stun guns to detain the man.

Oakland Police released new information today in the killing of an East Oakland barber, telling reporters that the metal object officers saw the man repeatedly reach for near his waistband was in fact an electronic scale, commonly used to weigh drugs. A small jar of marijuana was also found in his pocket, police said.
Derrick Jones, 37, was fatally shot in the chest by two Oakland Police officers Monday evening after authorities responded to a domestic dispute call between Jones and his ex-girlfriend at a corner laundromat next door to the Kwik Cuts barbershop he owns on Bancroft Avenue.
