The San Francisco Fire Department was called out the City Hall Tuesday evening after smoke from a small electrical fire triggered the building’s smoke alarms, witnesses said.

The fire was reported before 9:30 p.m., a dispatcher said.

The lights on the City Hall rotunda were switched off leaving the grand dome and other parts of the building’s exterior in the dark.

The fire department was investigating the cause the fire and did not immediately have additional details.
