In the space of a few short years, Uptown Oakland has grown into a culinary destination, with foodies in search of a good bite to eat flocking to the neighborhood to sample offerings from new — and hot — restaurants like Hibiscus, Flora, Plum and Hopscotch.

But one restaurant that’s made a big splash in the neighborhood keeps regulars coming back for more and entices curious visitors to come see what the buzz is all about.

Hundreds of East Bay volunteers working to get President Barack Obama re-elected showed up at the campaign’s Oakland office to get marching orders during the election.

If they visit now, though, they could be taking home some stylish footwear needed to win the next race.

High-rise living could be an option in Uptown Oakland, if a San Francisco developer gets his way.

According to the San Francisco Business Times, developer Seth Hamalian is planning a 28-story residential tower to be built at 19th and Broadway Streets, just a short walk away from a BART Station and the heart of Oakland’s bustling Uptown scene.

(4/20) 12:54 PDT — OAKLAND, CALIF. — A San Francisco man died Tuesday morning after he and his son were brutally beaten by two men while shopping near the Fox Theater in Downtown Oakland at 3 p.m. Friday in an incident police are calling a random act of violence.
